An algebraic hash function based on SL 2 by Andrew

چکیده
Cryptographic hash functions are fundamental building blocks of many computer security systems and protocols, primarily being used to ensure data integrity. Recent attacks against modern hash functions have questioned the suitability of standard hash function construction principles. In this paper we consider a hash function construction based multiplication in the group of 2× 2 matrices over a finite field proposed by Zémor and Tillich [48, 42, 43]. We also look at how the algebraic structure of hash functions following this design can be exploited in attacks. Finally, we consider variations to the approach of Zémor and Tillich that offer some resistance to those attacks.

An Improved Hash Function Based on the Tillich-Zémor Hash Function
Using the idea behind the Tillich-Zémor hash function, we propose a new hash function. Our hash function is parallelizable and its collision resistance is implied by a hardness assumption on a mathematical problem. Also, it is secure against the known attacks. It is the most secure variant of the Tillich-Zémor hash function until now.

The cryptographic hash function SHA-256 is one member of the SHA-2 hash family, which was proposed in 2000 and was standardized by NIST in 2002 as a successor of SHA-1. Although the differential fault attack on SHA-1compression function has been proposed, it seems hard to be directly adapted to SHA-256. In this paper, an efficient algebraic fault attack on SHA-256 compression function is propos...
متن کاملThe power of primes: security of authentication based on a universal hash-function family
Message authentication codes (MACs) based on universal hash-function families are becoming increasingly popular due to their fast implementation. In this paper, we investigate a family of universal hash functions that has been appeared repeatedly in the literature and provide a detailed algebraic analysis for the security of authentication codes based on this universal hash family. In particula...
متن کاملA NEW SECRET SHARING SCHEME ADVERSARY FUZZY STRUCTURE BASED ON AUTOMATA
In this paper,we introduce a new verifiable multi-use multi-secretsharing scheme based on automata and one-way hash function. The scheme has theadversary fuzzy structure and satisfy the following properties:1) The dealer can change the participants and the adversary fuzzy structure without refreshing any participants' real-shadow. 2) The scheme is based on the inversion of weakly invertible fin...
متن کاملInvestigation of Some Attacks on GAGE (v1), InGAGE (v1), (v1.03), and CiliPadi (v1) Variants
In this paper, we present some attacks on GAGE, InGAGE, and CiliPadi which are candidates of the first round of the NIST-LWC competition. GAGE and InGAGE are lightweight sponge based hash function and Authenticated Encryption with Associated Data (AEAD), respectively and support different sets of parameters. The length of hash, key, and tag are always 256, 128, and 128 bits, respec...
